Just before the presentations when we had just started to edit, it was clear the film wasn't the standard I had expected and suggested we change our idea. The group agreed though they were apathetic. Beacause we didn't get horrific negative feedback during the presentation they changed their minds, so when i said we wanted to change the idea and shoot on a set with controlled lighting they looked as if they didn't know what Iwas talking about.
The idea was this:
To film a person having an "interview" about their life and how they would change it if they could do it again. The set would be coming down around them, they would be smashing things, going crazy from being in this lonely room. This would cover Chalayan's themes of hope, sin, redemption and salvation, as well as displacement. It would also be reffering to his refugee collection where the room is emptied, and the collection where the models smashed the sugar glass dresses as a sign of rebirth. It suits the designer a lot better, and in doing so better fulfils the brief.
I aranged which day to do the shoot, I got a camera, a charger, a photographer to take down the set and do the lighting, and a model. I got out the garment again and arranged how I wanted the hair. I wrote out a quick set list to follow. All the group had to do was turn up, but they were obviously uninterested and didn't want to do anything. This was on a Monday with enough time ahead of the other workload to changethings. PR and Graphics hadn't even stared their work yet.
The shoot went very well, the model completely grasped the concept.
