Miranda July

ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW
Her first feature film, Me and You and Everyone We Know pushes social boundaries of what's acceptable and what's not. The story is about several characters that all cross paths at some point during the film, each involved in their own sub-plot to make the bigger picture. I thought this would be a good film to look at for both style and script. The style is very "real" at times the scenes can be slow moving as they would be in real life. The script is extraordinary, with idealistic situations. For example, when the main character walks to her car with the shoe sales assistant she has just met she shares an intimate moment with him.
Another interesting scene is the shoe scene, where the main character writes on her shoes and films her feet with the shoes on as if they were people in a relationship. I like the awkwardness.

ARE YOU THE FAVOURITE PERSON OF ANYONE?
A Short Film
A project of Miranda July's where a man stops people to ask them if they think they are the favourite person of anyone. He has a multiple answer questionnaire and asks them to what extent they are sure. I love the way the actors interact and the rawness of the question and so, reaction in turn. It's got some famous actors in it. I want to produce something as touching by awkward as this. It's sort of idealistic.

GETTING STRONGER EVERY DAY
I don't feel this has much to do with Chalayan or his themes but it's always interesting to watch other work done by the directors I have researched.
