BLINDSCAPE
The starting point for this collection was 'What is it like to be blind?'. Chalayan blindfolded himself and drew well-known garments such as jackets and trousers. The outcome was this collection. I also like the idea that the prints of calm, and then stormy seas, represent the two states of being unable to see, the peaceful and the nightmare. The idea is that people who can see can only empathise with the blind by closing their eyes and surrendering to sleep and dreams. I love the idea of this, the confusion of not being able to see and having to use other senses to make out what something is.

GENOMETRICS
For this collection, Chalayan worked with biologists to take the DNA sample of 6 people. He used the DNA sequence as a means to design. The results were very interesting, especially the last few garments and the hooded jackets with lots of volume (above).
